Holiday Sing Along on Zoom

Please join us for some holiday cheer on Tuesdays in December.  We meet at 6:30-7:30 EST.  Please send me an email if you are interested and I'll send you the Zoom link.  We'll sing a wide variety of songs and styles including rounds, traditional carols and folk songs.  This is very informal.  You can download this pdf of our holiday songbook.

Like a Ship in the Harbor

Here is a song I arranged for Community Singers.  It also sounds nice on recorders.  The recording has the bass part sung up an octave.  Click here for the free pdf.  I can also print it out as SSAT to match the recording if you send me an email.  The photo is one of my favorites of my mom.

Singing at Willow Grove

We enjoyed singing at Willow Grove Retirement Community and the residents enjoyed it too.

Shosholoza

Looking forward to singing on Tuesday.  I would like to record some of our songs to post on SoundCloud.  This is one I want to record.  If you don't know it yet, this video will teach you your part and you can sing along with the ensemble at the end.  Click here for the pdf file.  The friend who introduced me to this song calls it a "soul charge" and I definitely agree.  The Zulu word Shosholoza mean "Go Forward" and the words literally are about a train moving fast on the mountain.  While the song was originally a call and response sung by workers riding the train to the mines, it has become an unofficial national anthem in South Africa.  To me it is about joy and strength and energy.  Enjoy!

Vigil for Orlando tonight

I know many Community Singers will want to attend this service, so we will not have practice tonight.

Wonderful Friends That I've Known

This is a great Pete Seeger song that Dale has been teaching us.
