If you love to sing then join Charlotte Community Singers for some singing fun on Tuesday nights this summer. We’ll make beautiful music as we sing an eclectic mix of songs from many styles and cultures. These sessions will be a cross between choir practice and song circle. All ages are encouraged to attend.
We meet most Tuesdays, 7-8:30 (click on schedule in right column)

Here is a song I arranged for Community Singers. It also sounds nice on recorders. The recording has the bass part sung up an octave. Click here for the free pdf. I can also print it out as SSAT to match the recording if you send me an email. The photo is one of my favorites of my mom.

Looking forward to singing on Tuesday. I would like to record some of our songs to post on SoundCloud. This is one I want to record. If you don't know it yet, this video will teach you your part and you can sing along with the ensemble at the end. Click here for the pdf file. The friend who introduced me to this song calls it a "soul charge" and I definitely agree. The Zulu word Shosholoza mean "Go Forward" and the words literally are about a train moving fast on the mountain. While the song was originally a call and response sung by workers riding the train to the mines, it has become an unofficial national anthem in South Africa. To me it is about joy and strength and energy. Enjoy!
