Shosholoza

Looking forward to singing on Tuesday.  I would like to record some of our songs to post on SoundCloud.  This is one I want to record.  If you don't know it yet, this video will teach you your part and you can sing along with the ensemble at the end.  Click here for the pdf file.  The friend who introduced me to this song calls it a "soul charge" and I definitely agree.  The Zulu word Shosholoza mean "Go Forward" and the words literally are about a train moving fast on the mountain.  While the song was originally a call and response sung by workers riding the train to the mines, it has become an unofficial national anthem in South Africa.  To me it is about joy and strength and energy.  Enjoy!

Reunion June 14th

We will have our second annual Community Singers reunion this coming Sunday, June 14th, 5-9 at Christina's house, 314 Boyce Road.  We will have a potluck dinner followed by singing.  Please bring a dish to share, your Community Singers book if you have one and a chair.

Peace in the Park

Each person makes a difference in the world.  Each act of kindness, each word of encouragement, each gesture of love sends out a ripple.  Join with other Charlotteans as we stand together for kindness, love and peace in our community and our world.

We will lead a sing along starting at 1:40 PM prior to the vigil at 2 PM.  I will bring song sheets, so you will not need to bring your books.
